Introduction

Research center of Intelligent transportation System, School of Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University has established the model of traffic simulation and evaluation of environmental pollution through the study of urban motor vehicle exhaust pollution diffusion and transformation mechanism, and air pollution forecast and warning method. It has developed the simulation and evaluation system of urban traffic environment. For example, the Motor Vehicle Emissions Calculation and Management System of Foshan can be used to calculate per hour emissions from a single car, a single stage and regional, and build the emissions inventory of 10 m, 100 m and 1000 m resolution. It can analyze emission source of different regions and different sections dynamically and predict the outcome of reduction of traffic control measures as well. The City Air Quality Forecast and Information Release System can predict urban air quality of 0 ~ 24, 0, 0 ~ 48 ~ 72 hours and release the information. It has been used in Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhuhai, Hong Kong, Beijing, Hangzhou and other places for air quality forecast commissioning. The Urban Air Pollution Simulation and Evaluation System can be used in the pollution contribution analysis of different sources of pollution of the city, the urban air quality prediction and evaluation, the urban road environment effect evaluation of governance measures. These researches and systems can provide effective management tools and objective evaluation method for traffic and environmental management department, and  provide  decision-making services for scientific prevention,management measures and reasonable planning.
