Introduction: On August 29, 2015, the National People's Congress approved and released the updated version of the 15-year-old PRC Law on Air Pollution Prevention and Control.
Taking effect starting January 1, 2016, the new Air Law has covered volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the regulatory scope for the first time, and further strengthened standards for attainment planning, enforcement measures, marine fuel use, non-road mobile sources and agriculture sources, as well as other mechanisms to push for cleaner air in China.
