WIPO GREEN China City Acceleration Beijing Event（2026）
—Accelerate Global Green Development with Innovation & IP
In 2021, Bluetech Clean Air Alliance (BCAA) partnered with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to bring the WIPO GREEN Acceleration Program to China. This China initiative aimed to designate five Chinese cities as pilot sites to address local green development challenges by attracting global green technologies and facilitating their on-the-ground deployment to accelerate urban sustainable development. In November 2021, with the support of the Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office and the WIPO Office in China, Beijing became the world’s first pilot city of the WIPO GREEN Acceleration Program and has achieved remarkable outcomes. Building on Beijing’s successful experience, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou and other cities successively joined the WIPO GREEN City Pilot Program in 2024 and 2025.
As the first pilot city, Beijing has continuously explored and innovated operational models and working mechanisms. In 2024, the Beijing pilot introduced another flagship initiative from WIPO: IP Management Clinic (IPMC). Two consecutive sessions of the China Greentech IPMC have been launched from 2024 to 2025. Through intensive workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, and on-site field visits, the program enhances IP awareness for enrolled Greentech enterprises, elaborates on the role of IP in business strategy, and supports participating companies in developing customized IP strategy roadmap reports.
To mark World Intellectual Property Day 2026, the Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, and the WIPO Office in China will jointly host a special acceleration event for the Beijing pilot, themed Accelerate Global Green Development with Innovation & IP. The event will be organized by BCAA on 12 May 2026. The event will showcase progress made under the WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Program Beijing pilot, deliver IP strategy training sessions, and hold the closing ceremony for the 2nd China Greentech IPMC. In addition, it will facilitate green technology roadshow, industrial matchmaking sessions, and partnership signing ceremonies between green technology providers and seekers. This event is the 10th event of the “Innovating for a Green Future” Green Technology IP Activity Series, and also serves as a key component of WIPO GREEN’s global cooperation network in China.
