November 2019, the 2nd China International Import Expo(CIIE) was held in Shanghai. During this period, CIIE supporting event——“Green Technology-Smart City-Yangtze River Delta Integration”International Forum of Green Science & Technology Fusion was held on 6th November. Representatives from Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Huzhou, Huainan and other cities in Yangtze River Delta , head of national ministries and commissions,scientific research institutions, UN agencies, international agencies, the innovation center and experts, Nobel laureates, entrepreneurs representatives, more than 200 people gathered to focus on the development of green science in YangtzeRiver Delta, suggested a more open attitude of Yangtze river delta cities in China, further integrated into global science and technology innovation system and strengthened the comprehensive international cooperation in the field of sustainable.
Hong Zheng, deputy head of Shanghai Hongkou district, pointed out in his speech that the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation are flourishing, it is our common aspiration to promote exchanges in green industries and cooperation in technological innovation. Secretary of the Party committee of Suzhou high-tech zone, secretary of Huqiu district committee and district chief, XinmingWu, said in his speech that the integration of Yangtze River Delta has been comprehensively promoted as a national development strategy and the concept of green development has been wide spread, which provide a new historical opportunity for regional eco-environmental cooperation and green development. Yang Chaofei, deputy director general of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences and China Research Society of Urban Development, focused on green technology, made a keynote speech on "Incubating Green Technology to Promote the Development of Urban Green Industry".
How to develop the green industry in a better and faster way and grasp the historical opportunity? Xie Hongxing,director of Bluetech Clean Air Alliance(BCAA), made a theme report on "Cultivating High-value Patents to Give Green Industry Core Competences". He stated “Clean air market in China will exceed 20 trillion RMB by 2030, and China will continue to become the world's largest clean technology market. However, many research institutes, technological enterprises in the field of clean energy and environmental protection in China have very limited knowledge of patents andcannot use patents as "weapons" to carry out effective commercial competition. Poor patent quality and lack of overseas deployment are two major problems of Chinese patents in environmental areas. Mr. Xie introduced the importance of patent strategy, and approaches of BCAA in addressing the high quality development of green industries through enhanced IP strategies.
This forum was jointly hosted by Shanghai Hongkou District Municipal Government and Suzhou National Hi-Tech District(SND) Management Committee. Shanghai Hongkou District Municipal Commission of Commerce,Suzhou High-tech District Shishan Business Innovation Zone(in preparation), Suzhou High-tech District Economic Development Committee, Suzhou High-tech District Bureau of Commerce, Shanghai Hongkou Green Industry Development Institute jointly organized the forum.
