Progress of the WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project Beijing Pilot ---- Community Electric Vehicles Flexible Charging CasePost date: 2022-08-22

Since the official launch of the WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project Beijing Pilot in November 2021, the pilot has collected green technology needs from enterprises, institutions, research institutes and communities in Beijing through the members and partners of Bluetech Clean Air Alliance (BCAA). At the same time, excellent innovative green solutions were collected globally. Up to now, a total of 5 pairs of enterprises have signed MOU under the framework of the Beijing Pilot of the WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project, and 2 projects have been put into practice to form a demonstration.

On August 19, 2022, BCAA, on behalf of WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project Team, paid an on-site visit to the case “Electric Vehicle Charging Platform for Old Community” in Yuanda Park, Haidian District, Beijing. This project is one of the pilot demonstration projects of the WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project Beijing Pilot.

Yuanda Park, under the management of Beijing Century City Property Management Co., Ltd. (Need Provider), faced the contradiction between the increasing demand of residents for charging and the shortage of existing capacitors. Among the technologies collected by the WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project Beijing Pilot platform, the project team matched a technical solution provided by Beijing ShijiYunan New Energy Co.,Ltd: “Community Flexible Smart Charging Solution". This solution makes full use of the community’s existing capacity by allocating the idle time capacity, which could meet the need submitted by Beijing Century City Property Management Company.

In February 2022, under the organization of the project team of the WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project Beijing Pilot, the two companies made contact and exchanged views on their need and technical solution. After a period of exchange and in-depth communication, the two companies formally established a cooperative relationship and carried out the cooperation of "Charging Facilities and Supporting Facilities Construction of New Energy Electric Vehicles in Yuanda Park, Haidian District, Beijing", As of July 2022, the technology of " Community Flexible Smart Charging Solution "has been officially put into operation in District 1, District 3 and District 6of Yuanda Park.

The District 1 of Yuanda Park which was visited this time, was completed in 2001 and has more than 600 households. The community built parking lots for residents at a proportion of 70%, and the total number of parking spaces is more than 400. Due to the reason that the surge of residents' charging demand has not been considered in the past designof capacitors, and the increase of the number of new energy vehicles, the contradiction between the increase of community charging demand and the shortage of charging piles and other facilities has become increasingly prominent. The project team learned from the site visit that 5, 22 and 10 users in District 1, District 3 and District 6 of Yuanda Park have formally experienced and applied the solution since the project was implemented. The need provider, Beijing Century City Property Management Co., Ltd., also gave the following comments:

  1. The flexible adjustment function of charging power load is tested through the management platform. When the power load in the community is tight, the management platform can flexibly dispatch and reduce the charging load, to ensure the safety of electricity consumption and distribution system.

  2. The implementation of this project makes Beijing ShijiYunan New Energy Co., Ltd. fully participate in the supervision and management of charging facilities. The management difficulty could be reduced, and the safety level could be improved.

  3. Through the management platform of the project, we can know the condition of the use of charging piles in our community and the change of charging load. Which eliminates the blind area of power distribution monitoring in the community, and improves the power distribution safety management level of the community.

The community electric vehicles flexible charging case has effectively solved the community charging problem that all new energy vehicle users in the built community can realize charging under limited power capacity. This project has formed a good demonstration effect. At the same time, this solution has strong adapt ability to the construction needs of different communities. This solution has strong reproducibility and can effectively solve the problem of adding charging piles by using existing capacitors faced by cities in China and worldwide. It will help to achieve the goal of more new energy vehicles replacing fuel vehicles, energy conservation, emission reduction and green travel in the future.
