BCAA Attended WIPO GREEN 10th Anniversary Celebration in Switzerland and Shared the Progress of Beijing Pilot ProjectPost date: 2023-11-06

On November 1 and 2, 2023, to support the deployment of green technologies, address challenges and identify opportunities, and promote partnerships, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) held the 10th anniversary celebration of WIPO GREEN and the WIPO GREEN Global Partnership Conference at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Xie Hongxing, Director of Bluetech Clean Air Alliance(BCAA) was invited to participate in the celebration activities.

Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO delivered a keynote speech for this meeting, “ Today, we mark not only 10 years of WIPO GREEN, but 10 years of accelerating climate action. I am pleased to see a wide range of speakers from a diverse set of stakeholders coming together today to address this challenge which is existential for our planet and people”.

Xie Hongxing was invited as a guest speaker at the conference to delivered a speech at the 10th anniversary celebration of WIPO GREEN, demonstrated multiple achievements of the Beijing pilot project of WIPO GREEN/BCAA China City Acceleration Project. China's strong commitment to addressing climate change, enormous market opportunities, and rapid development of green innovation have received widespread attention from attendees.

The event discussed what gaps exist in existing technologies and their positioning, explored ways to accelerate technology deployment, and discussed challenges and opportunities from multiple perspectives including digital tools, financing and licensing mechanisms. There were 300 guests from dozens of countries at the event, and hundreds of guests participated remotely online.

Dr. Edward Kwakwa, Assistant Director General of WIPO, concluded the Symposium,. “Today was not just about celebrating WIPO GREEN’s first 10 years, it was also a day of reflection, a day of learning, and most importantly, a day of collective responsibility”, he emphasized.

In addition to the 10th anniversary celebration of WIPO GREEN, Xie Hongxing also attended the WIPO GREEN Global Partner Conference, and at the conference, he proposed suggestions for the future development of WIPO GREEN and acceleration project to Director General Daren Tang, and other partner representatives, which received widespread attention. In addition, with the coordination of WIPO GREEN team, Xie Hongxing had a side meeting with WIPO's IP Management Clinic team to explore the cooperation opportunity in jointly launching a green technology IP acceleration camp in China in 2024.
