The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) released the 2023 Green Technology Book on 6 December 2023 at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This Book focuses on technological innovations for mitigating climate change, with themes covering low-carbon technologies applied in agriculture, forestry, industry, and urban areas. Additionally, the 2023 Green Technology Book delves into the potential for mitigation through the deployment of technologies in key sectors. The 2023 Green Technology Book serves as a crucial tool for fostering connections and partnerships in the field.
Bluetech Clean Air Alliance (BCAA) was invited to recommend and showcase green technologies from China in the Green Technology Book. In 2023, four innovative enterprises recommended by the BCAA had their technologies featured in the Green Technology Book. These technologies include high-performance oxide solid electrolyte interface flexible layer material and ultra-thin film electrolyte preparation technology/interface softening technology (Chongqing Talent New Energy), cultured meat creation technology (Nanjing Joes Future Food, STET), low carbon synthesis technology for natural organic material PHA (Beijing Bluepha Co., Ltd.), and ceramic waste regeneration (Shanghai Yi Design Company Limited). Additionally, technologies from two other enterprises were included in the online version of the Green Technology Book, focusing on fabrication of nanocellulose from sustainable bio based resources (NINGBO TANGJU New Materials Co.Ltd) and innovating carbon capture & utilization (Linhe Climate Science & Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd.).
The Green Technology Book is one of WIPO's flagship publications, primarily focusing on green technologies related to addressing climate change. The theme of the 2022 Book was climate change adaptation, and it was released at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in 2022, garnering widespread attention. The Green Technology Book is compiled by the WIPO GREEN team. WIPO GREEN, initiated by WIPO in 2013, serves as a collaborative platform supporting global efforts to combat climate change by connecting providers and seekers of environmentally friendly technologies. Through modules such as databases, collaboration networks, acceleration projects, research reports, IP empowerment, and green technology, WIPO GREEN promotes the application of green innovation to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The BCAA is a global strategic partner of WIPO GREEN and, in 2021, collaborated to launch the WIPO GREEN China City Acceleration Project, with Beijing serving as the first pilot city.
