WIPO Global Awards 2024 Seeks Small Businesses and Startups Successfully Using IPPost date: 2024-01-16

The United Nations World IntellectualProperty Organization (WIPO) opened the application for the 2024 WIPO GlobalAwards on January 15, 2024. The awards are open to businesses worldwide, withup to 25 projects being shortlisted and a maximum of 7 winning enterprises.Representatives of the winning enterprises will be invited to attend the awardsceremony at the WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland in July 2024.


The WIPO Global Awards, initiated by WIPOin 2022, are designed for small and medium-sized enterprises to recognizeoutstanding achievements in the following areas:

・Driving IP assets into profitablecommercial ventures.

・Leveraging IP for business growth.

・Delivering commercial solutions for SDGimpact.

Although established just two years ago,the WIPO Global Awards have evolved into one of the most prestigious industryaccolades in the global field of intellectual property and innovation.

・The finalists and winners will receive thefollowing support:

The finalists and winners will gaininternational promotion, recognition, and visibility through various UnitedNations platforms.

・Winners will be invited to attend theprestigious Awards Ceremony and networking events in Geneva, Switzerland (withtravel expenses are covered by WIPO).

・Winners will benefit from a tailoredmentorship program focusing on key aspects such as securing financialresources, establishing business collaboration networks, and strengtheningintellectual property strategies.


To support the development of early-stagetech enterprises, in addition to targeting small and medium-sized businesses,the 2024 WIPO Global Awards have also established a dedicated award categoryfor startups founded no more than three years ago. This category aims torecognize their efforts in integrating intellectual property into theirbusiness strategies at the early stages and commercializing their intellectualproperty assets.
