In 2021, WIPO GREEN and BCAA jointly launched the WIPO GREEN China Cities Acceleration Project with the goal of accelerating the green development of collaborating cities via applications of innovative green technologies. With support from Beijing IP Office, Beijing become the first pilot city, and achieved a series of important progress over the past two years of operation.
Moving into 2024, the theme of World IP Day focuses on IP and the Sustainable Development Goals, and as a result, green innovation and sustainable development once again became the global IP communities. Currently, the process of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development goals has passed the halfway mark and is at a critical juncture. Of the 140 SDG targets, the world is on pace to meet only 15%. More than ever, the world needs international solidarity and decisive actions to fulfill the promise of the SDGs.
To celebrate the World IP Day 2024, the Beijing Intellectual Property Office, WIPO Office in China and BCAA, are going to organize the WIPO GREEN China City Acceleration Beijing Event（2024）on 10th May in Beijing. The event will share the progress of the Beijing pilot, launch the Collaboration Network for Green Technology Transfer (early stage), organize MOUs signing ceremonies between technology providers and seekers, deliver IP strategy training, and facilitate green technology display and matchmaking with technology seekers and green investors. This event is the sixth event of the "Innovating for a Green Future" green technology IP activities, and is also part of the WIPO GREEN Global Cooperation Network in China.
