United Nations IPMC: China Green Technology IP Managemen Clinic Program Launch Ceremony and First Training Successfully Held
October 29, the launching ceremony and the first Centralized training of China Greentech IP Management Clinic (IPMC) was held in Beijing. The IPMC is organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and implemented by Bluetech Clean Air Alliance (BCAA). Leaders of 25 enterprises from green technology participated in the event. Representatives from WIPO Headquarters, WIPO China Office, and Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Office attended the event, and the international and domestic mentor teams of the IPMC made a centralized appearance, and conducted the first centralized training. The event was hosted by Tonny XIE, Director of Bluetech Clean Air Alliance.
Opening remarks
Silvija Trpkovska, consultant of WIPO said that this year, IP for Business Division, WIPO GREEN, BCAA and WIPO Office in China are extending the project support package by offering technical support to greetech startups and SMEs to develop strengths of their IP strategies by joining the IP management clinic.
Yuhua DENG, Consultant of WIPO Office in China pointed out that today's event is an important part of the Beijing pilot of the WIPO GREEN China city acceleration project and another important milestone in the acceleration program in China. I would like to congratulate WIPO on the successful cooperation with the Blue Alliance, which made this meaningful project possible. This year, we are delighted to welcome Shanghai and Chongqing to the acceleration project, and we look forward to more cities joining in the future to promote the widespread adoption of green technologies in China.
According to Tonny XIE, the IPMC event is specifically for China's green innovation and technology enterprises. The participating companies were selected from hundreds of companies through multiple channels of national and local government departments, and finally 25 companies were selected by WIPO headquarters, covering new energy resources, energy storage, hydrogen energy, green new materials and other industries. The participants of today's IPMC are the core decision-makers of enterprises, which fully reflects the great importance that entrepreneurs attach to intellectual property rights.

For this particular edition, we are very pleased to welcome SMEs and startups involved with Green technologies, supporting the China’s transition into the green economy.”

China Green Technology IP Managemen Clinic(IPMC)
The Intellectual Property Strategy Mentoring Programme for Green Technology SMEs (IPMC) is a programme launched by the Business Intellectual Property Department of the World Intellectual Property (WIPO) to actively help companies make effective and strategic use of IP to support their entrepreneurial activities. The China Green Technology IPMC Project will bring together international and domestic intellectual property strategy experts and bring together 25 founders of China's innovative green technology enterprises. We also carry out intensive training, 1-on-1 coaching, field study and other activities to help founders of green technology companies raise IP awareness, understand the importance of IP in business development, and support participating companies to tailor IP strategies.
In 2015, the Beijing Municipal Government signed a Cooperation Memorandum with WIPO, emphasizing support for WIPO GREEN's work in Beijing. In November 2021, with the support of the Beijing Intellectual Property Office and the WIPO China Office, the world's first pilot city of the WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project was launched in Beijing, which became one of the specific tasks of Beijing to support the development of WIPO GREEN.
WIPO Assistant Director General Eduardo Koukoua said in a video message during his participation in the Beijing pilot of the WIPO GREEN Urban Acceleration Project. The IP Strategy Accelerator will bring together international and Chinese IP experts to provide tailored strategic IP support and guidance to selected companies on their innovation journey.
IPMC Business Registration Requirements
Leading deep-tech startups or companies, with strong potential to become green unicorn in future;
Company’s technology or products are with significant green benefits on either pollution control or curbing climate change;
Recognizing that IP is the core assets of the company and would commit to spending time and efforts to develop a good IP strategy for its growth;
Basic knowledge of IP;
At least one IP asset protected;
Company founder commits to join in all centralized session in person;
Consent to the collection of the participating companies technologies in the WIPO GREEN Database, and in return these companies will be invited to join in the matchmaking activities of the Acceleration Project.
