A £1 million award:2025 The Earthshot Prize Nominations OpenPost date: 2024-12-10

Nominations for the 2025 "The Earthshot Prize" have officially opened. All submissions for "The Earthshot Prize" must be nominated by a nominator. Since 2020, Bluetech Clean Air Alliance (BCAA) has been invited to serve as an official nominator for "Earthshot," continuously recommending China's innovative green solutions for global recognition.

The "Earthshot Prize" is a global environmental award established by Prince William of the United Kingdom and the Royal Foundation in 2020. This prize aims to inspire and reward innovative solutions that make significant contributions to protecting and restoring the Earth's environment.

The "Earthshot Prize" is awarded annually, addressing five major environmental challenge areas: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Air, Revive Our Oceans, Waste to Wealth, and Climate Action. From all nominated projects, 15 finalists will be selected, and ultimately, five winners will receive a prize of £1 million each to further advance the application and global promotion of their green solutions. In addition to financial support, the "Earthshot Prize" provides winners with extensive resources and platforms through Prince William's influence and international cooperation networks to promote sustainable development innovation. This prize has become one of the most influential environmental awards globally, aiming to inject new momentum into addressing climate change and environmental crises.

In 2023, BCAA successfully nominated GRST for the "Earthshot Prize," and was invited to attend the award ceremony. This was the only winning project from China since the establishment of the award.

Founded in 2015, GRST's team has successfully overcome technical challenges in using an all-aqueous process to manufacture lithium-ion batteries. By using water as a medium to replace traditional production methods that use toxic organic solvents, battery production becomes more cost-effective, with reduced pollutant and carbon emissions, and easier recycling. GRST was also a recipient of the 2022 Bluetech Carbon Neutral Pioneer Award, which was jointly launched by BCAA and the Financial Support Platform for Green Technology in 2022. The purpose of this award is to support and promote technology pioneer enterprises in the carbon neutrality field, disseminate and promote low-carbon technological innovations, and contribute to China and the world in achieving carbon neutrality goals.
