The handbook is released annually at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) and has received widespread attention.
The "Green Technology Book" is one of WIPO's flagship publications and is led by the WIPO GREEN team within WIPO. WIPO GREEN is a cooperation platform initiated by the United Nations World Intellectual Property Organization in 2013 to support global efforts to combat climate change by connecting providers and seekers of environmentally friendly technologies. Through its database, cooperation network, acceleration projects, research reports, IP empowerment, and green technology modules, it promotes the application of green innovations to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. BCAA was invited to recommend green technologies from China for inclusion and display in the "Green Technology Handbook." BCAA is a global strategic partner of WIPO GREEN and, in 2021, jointly launched the WIPO GREEN China City Acceleration Program with it. The first pilot city was Beijing, while Shanghai and Chongqing joined as the second batch of pilot cities in 2024.
