On February 20, the award ceremony for the Third Bluetech Carbon Neutrality Pioneers Award Ceremony was grandly held in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. The event was hosted by Xie Hongxing, Director of Bluetech Clean Air Alliance and National Coordinator for the UN WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Project in China.

This year’s competition recognized 18 enterprises (including teams) with Bluetech Carbon Neutrality Pioneers Award Ceremony and 20 enterprises (including teams) with Honorable Mentions. The winning projects spanned over a dozen sectors, including renewable energy, carbon capture and utilization, batteries and new energy storage, hydrogen and fuel cells, green materials, energy efficiency, circular economy, green biotechnology, energy-carbon management, and electricity trading. Representatives from the 18 Pioneer Award winners and 10 Honorable Mention recipients attended the ceremony, with Pioneer Award winners delivering presentations about their innovations.

Key Speeches:

Chen Xiangyang, Mayor of Changzhi, emphasized that the event provided a critical opportunity for the city to engage with cutting-edge green technologies and concepts. He highlighted Changzhi’s commitment to advancing projects in new energy, hydrogen and fuel cells, energy storage, and circular economy, while fostering green finance and innovation.

Lv Guoliang, former WIPO China representative, praised the competition as a globally influential platform for green innovation. He noted that over 600 green technology projects from 20+ countries had been evaluated through the initiative, which is part of the UN WIPO GREEN City Acceleration Pilot Program. He particularly commended the competition’s IP-specific evaluation framework, a pioneering feature that could serve as a model for international best practices.

Xie Hongxing added that the event also featured afternoon roadshows and networking sessions to deepen collaboration between green tech enterprises and investors, injecting momentum into China’s "Dual Carbon" goals.

The event was hosted by the Changzhi Municipal People’s Government and co-organized by the Shangdang District People’s Government and Bluetech Clean Air Alliance. Key supporters included the Financial Support for Green Technology Platform, Cornerstone Industrial Development, and institutions such as CNIPA, the Shanxi Provincial Intellectual Property Office, the Canadian Embassy in China, the Pakistani Embassy in China, Aramco Ventures, the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, the Environmental Defense Fund, JETRO, and Yinghe Law Firm.

Over 250 attendees participated in the main and parallel sessions.
