[China IPMC] BOE Tour — Learning IP Strategy for Greentech CompaniesPost date: 2025-04-29

On the morning of April 29, 2025, the China Green Technology IP Management Clinic (IPMC) BOE Study Tour, hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), organized by the Bluetech Clean Air Alliance (BCAA), and co-hosted by BOE Technology Group, was successfully held at the BOE Technology Innovation Center.

Chen Wei, Second-Level Inspector of the Beijing Intellectual Property Office, emphasized that Beijing is actively fostering a robust IP ecosystem to support green tech enterprises, hoping this event would provide valuable insights for businesses. Deng Yuhua, Counsellor of the WIPO China Office, highlighted the critical role of intellectual property in driving green tech innovation and encouraged strengthened international collaboration to advance the development and application of green technologies. Su Jing, Director of BOE’s Technology and Intellectual Property Management Center, welcomed the attendees and shared BOE’s strategic approach and practical experience in green technology and IP portfolio management, expressing eagerness to deepen cooperation for mutual success.

The event was moderated by Xie Hongxing, Director of the BCAA. Xie noted that this study tour was a key component of the IPMC program, designed to help participating companies learn from leading Chinese tech firms in IP management, support the high-quality growth of small and medium-sized green tech enterprises, and formulate globally oriented IP strategies.

During the keynote sharing session, Su Jing discussed BOE’s best practices in balancing cutting-edge R&D with patent protection, tailoring IP strategies across different business sectors, and international IP deployment. He engaged in in-depth discussions with attendees, highlighting BOE’s structured approach to IP management, including tiered oversight, specialized IP talent development, and quality control in patent applications. Su stressed that IP strategy must align with corporate business strategy, ensuring patents deliver tangible value across all operational stages to maximize their impact.

In the exhibition segment, participants visited BOE’s Green Technology Showroom for an immersive experience of its innovations. Key displays included low-carbon display technologies, smart energy solutions, and circular economyeconomic initiatives, showcasing BOE’s technological leadership and commitment to driving industrial green transformation.

Representatives from the IPMC companies unanimously agreed that the event not only provided insights from industry leaders but also established a collaborative network, laying a solid foundation for future synergies in green tech innovation and resource sharing. The discussions offered fresh perspectives and practical guidance for green tech enterprises in innovation and IP protection.
