"Guangdong Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan and Air Quality Attainment Planning Training" was held on Nov. 31st, 2013 in Guangzhou Zhujiang Hotel. Department of Environmental Protection of Guangdong Province and Clean Air Alliance of China jointly organized the training with support from Energy Foundation.
The training aimed to guide cities to develop action plans to implement the Guangdong's Provincial Plan on the one hand, and build capacities of cities in developing air quality attainment plans on the other. Lectures and discussions were delivered and led by experts from China Academy of Environmental Planning, Tsinghua University, Guangdong Provincial Academy of Environmental Science, and Secretariat for Clean Air Alliance of China. The lectures introduced the mechanism of air quality attainment planning, including international experience of attainment planning, steps to make a good attainment plan,application of CAAC emission inventory tool, and implementation details of air pollution control action plan. Representatives from Guangzhou and Shenzhen reported and shared their work on air quality attainment planning and discussed the problems during the plan making process with experts and other city representatives.
Around 70 representatives from 21 cities of Guangdong Province attended the training. They are from local environment agencies and academies of environment sciences which are responsible for air pollution control work.
