The Second China Social Investment Forum (SIF) was held with success in Beijing on the November 14th, 2014. CAAC successfully supported the roundtable of “Clean Air and Responsible Investment”.
During the roundtable, the Director of CAAC Secretariat, Mr. Xie Hongxing delivered a speech, presenting the progress of the Clean Air Investors Salon, along with the coming investment analysis report VOCs Management: hundreds of billions of investment. Mr. Xie pointed out that, with the presence of haze in many parts of China, the environmental protection policies in China entered a stage of fast updates. As a key precursor to PM2.5 and O3, VOCs management has become a key working area of the central government and the air pollutant with the most rapidly evolving policies. Currently, local VOCs management is a hard task while Guangdong, Beijing and Tianjin, etc. have been pioneers in this field. Mr. Xie predicted that: “According to international experiences, VOCs management market will be a fast growing one. With the relative policies coming out, VOCs management industry would form a market of more than hundreds of billions Yuan during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
The roundtable “Clean Air and Responsible Investment” was hosted by Mr. Zhang Qiang who is the Vice Dean of the Social Development and Public Policy Department of Beijing Normal University. The participants of the roundtable developed discussions around topics of challenges and opportunities of clean air investment and responsible investment, directing investment to a green trajectory, urgent policy demand, etc..
