The draft of China’s Environmental Protection Tax Law is expected to be submitted to State Council by the end of this year, with submission to the National People’s Congress expected in the first half of 2016. Four categories of pollutants (air pollution, water pollution, solid waste, and noise) will be taxed according to the law. The new taxes are expected to generate tens of billions of RMB per year.
