Beijing converted 5900 T/h (tons of steam per hour) of coal-fired burners to gas, exceeding its target of 3579 T/h for boiler reconstruction. District heating boilers contributed 5286 T/h and industry boilers 614 T/h. Six districts met the no coal burning boiler target. Beijing is expected to reduce coal burning by an additional 1,470 ktons, SO2 by 12.5 ktons, and NOX by 4.3 ktons this year.
