The air quality prevention and control group for the Jing-jin-ji region and its surrounding areas held its sixth group meeting on May 20. Vice premier of the State Council Zhang Gaoli called for industrial pollution sources to meet the emissions discharge goal, implement the use of electricity or gas to replace coal in rural areas, and establish emergency plans to be used on heavily-polluted days. 2017 is the last year of Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan, so the next 18 months will play a key role in meeting the air quality target.
