On October 20, national and regional leaders, including the secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Central Planning Commission, the minister of environmental protection, director of the National Energy Administration, and the deputy secretary of the Hebei Provincial Committee attended the 7th Jing-Jin-Ji Air Pollution Prevention and Control Working Group Meeting. They discussed how to improve air quality for the coming heating season and considered a coal-ban for the region. Another proposal suggested that boilers with a capacity under 10 steam tons and small boilers be shut down.
