As part of “Pollution Management and Environmental Health Business Week” in Beijing, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau hosted a series of events with the support of the World Bank. At an international workshop on air quality management in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Rick Weston spoke to provincial policymakers about the benefits of integrated energy and air quality management. Drawing on RAP’s study Capturing Win-Win Energy Efficiency and Air Quality Improvement Projects, Mr. Weston recommended regulators implement power sector reforms that also advance environmental goals. He underscored the value of end-use energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and market designs that favor clean energy investments.
