On May 17th, Kick off meeting for China air quality management assessment project in 2017 was held in Beijing.
Experts from the Energy Foundation, Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau (Beijing EPB), the World Environment magazine, and Chinese Academy for Environmental Planning (CAEP) were invited to attend the meeting.
At the meeting, Li Jing, the senior adviser of the Clean Air Alliance of China (CAAC) secretariat, introduced the project background and the preliminary framework of the project report. Some key index of China Air Quality Management Assessment Report (2017) was discussed, including main content, data source, and project schedule of the report. The director of the CAAC secretariat, Xie Hongxing, made the final remarks summarized the next stage work plan.
China air quality management assessment is an important research project led by CAAC, with the support of Energy Foundation and CAAC’s expert network. China Air Quality Management Assessment Report is the main output of the project, which has been released annually since 2015. Project aims to help Chines Provinces and Cities to understand their air pollution status, gaps and challenges, which could also support their air quality management via this scientific assessment. At the meantime, the project could also help the public to comprehensively understand the local and regional air quality status and governance progress.
