From July 5th to 6th, the two-day 2018 Beijing International Forum for Metropolitan Clean Air Actions was held in Beijing. Bluetech Clean Air Alliance was invited to participate in this forum. The forum was hosted by the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and organized by the Beijing Municipal Research Institute of Environmental Protection. The UNEP, Paris, London, Tokyo, Seoul, Delhi, Hong Kong and other international metropolises were invited. Air quality management officials and experts from California and Italy Environmental Science Research Institute attended the meeting to exchange views on air pollution control experience, practice and future work ideas in metropolitan areas.
This forum provided a good communication platform for participating cities to share the experiences and methods of air pollution control. In this forum, Beijing, a large metropolis of developing countries, received experience and technology of air pollution control from many metropolises all over the world. At the same time, Beijing also showed the world the successful experience and results of the “Beijing version” of air pollution control.
In order to improve the air quality in Beijing, the Alliance has cooperated with the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau for many times to support Beijing's battle for blue skies. At the beginning of 2016, commissioned by the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, the Alliance and the Beijing Municipal Research Institute of Environmental Protection jointly carried out the “Typical Case Analysis and Policy Suggestion Project for Clean Energy Reform in the Jing-Jin-Ji Region”. The project ultimately produced the “Case Analysis and Policy Proposal of Clean Energy Transformation in the Jing-Jin-Ji Region”, “Guidance on Scattered Coal Control and Clean Energy for Heating Supply” and “Scattered Coal Control and Clean Energy for Heating Supply Technology and Case Collection” for relevant departments. Strongly support the work of developing the clean energy for heating. The Alliance also cooperated with the Beijing Academy of Environmental Sciences to collect technologies related to non-electric coal pollution control, and to carry out typical technical case analysis to provide technical support for air pollution control in Beijing. At present, the collection of the 4th “Bluetech Award” has been launched, and it is hoped that through this Bluetech Award, more innovative clean air technologies will be selected to help Beijing win the battle for blue skies.
