On October 16, the Clean Air Alliance of China (CAAC) hosted the 4th Clean Air Investor Salon, bringing in investors interested in clean air industry opportunities to showcase leading innovations, highlight market and policy changes, and demonstrate CAAC’s tools to assess investment opportunities. Obama-Xi Joint Presidential Statement on Climate Change Promises Much-Needed Reform of Generator Dispatch in China
In China, generator dispatch—which largely determines how the vast fleet of power plants are used on an hour-by-hour basis—has long been inefficient and a major obstacle to meeting China’s air quality and clean energy goals. In addition to the curtailment of wind, solar, and hydro energy, inefficient dispatch means that relatively dirty coal-fired power plants are often used even when relatively efficient coal-fired power plants are available as replacements. Dispatch practices in China have also been a barrier to investment in flexible resources such as natural-gas-fired power plants and demand response. more...

Bluetech Award closes call for applications with over 50 applicants
The first award dedicated to promoting the best international air pollution prevention and control technologies has officially closed its call for applications. Supported by the Energy Foundation, the Clean Air Alliance of China (CAAC) launched the Bluetech Award in August 2015 to solve the most pressing air quality challenges in China and around the world. This year’s Bluetech Award focuses on four fields that are relevant to clean air technologies: diesel engine pollution control; VOC substitution, prevention and control; straw recycling and indoor air purification. more...
China Commits to Significant New Climate Actions in U.S.-China Joint Presidential Statement on Climate Change
Presidents Xi Jinping and Barack Obama announced new and strengthened actions by both countries domestically and working together as part of a joint presidential statement on climate change. The 11th Annual China City Air Quality Management Workshop Guides the Way for VOCs Management
On October 14, the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (FECO-MEP) and Clean Air Asia co-hosted the 11th Annual China City Air Quality Management Workshop in Dalian, China. The three-day-workshop tackled volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions management and technologies in petrochemical, painting, and ink industries, and provided international and domestic experience and technical support for local environmental protection bureaus to implement the “Action Plan for Air Pollution Prevention and Control” and “Air Pollution Prevention Law.” more...
